5C COLLET CHUCK PROJECT 

 

4in blank mounted in 4-Jaw
4" 12L14 blank mounted in 4-Jaw.
<.001" Runout.
spindle recess machined.
Recess machined in, ready for
test fit w/template.
Test fit with spindle template
Template wiggled on perfectly.
Now to mark mounting stud locations.
Marking locations for 3 studs
Using transfer punch. Locate 3 holes for the 6mm studs.
Locations Marked & Hilighted with a permanent marker.
Stud loations made & highlighted with a permanent marker.
4in blank mounted on spindle
Blank mounted to spindle flange. Now to face the front.
Facing operation done.
Just finished a few facing passes. Now to mark off the area to turn dow to 2"
Turned down the section to be brought to 2.000
After a couple passes to mark off the area to bring down to 2.000"
Almost down to 2 inches.
Collet chuck really taking shape. Almost down to 2 inches.
Area to be threaded is now at 2 inches
Chuck machined down to 2.000" and the new Carmex RH External Threading tool mounted.
Chuck is ready to me threaded to 2.00-20
Recess at end of threads done and its now ready to be threaded 2.00-20.
Threading done.
Threading completed, the Carmex threading tool makes this a breeze.
Internal threads for 5C collet done.
Boring operation done & 1.238-20 threads for 5C collet completed.
