The Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad provides vehicle accident rescue services to our community and has done so since the first day of operations. Our situation is unique. We have narrow and windy country roads that invite accidents and new growth areas that allow high speed accidents to occur because of the unfamiliarity with the roads. (Motor vehicle accidents remain the leading cause of death among individuals 1-34 years old in our community.)

CARS has spent tremendous sums of money on the latest vehicle rescue equipment and training due to the increasing number of vehicle accidents that trap/pin victims (we perform over 40 vehicle rescue extrications per year.) The current national average for vehicle extrication is 30 minutes. In 2004, our average time was 5 minutes, testimony that the money is well spent.

Information about our vehicle rescue team is listed in the links below. As you peruse this information and find that there is something we could do better, please don't hesitate to drop us an e-mail. The only way we can constantly improve is through your input.
