Special Operations (Spec-Ops) is the branch of our agency that deals with special situations such as trench & building collapse rescue, confined space rescue and high-angle rope rescue. Spec-Ops is headed up by a deputy chief and each area of expertise has a captain who is in-charge of maintaining equipment and training. Because such special rescue ssituations are high-risk & low-frequency, they tend to be very dangerous. This requires highly trained & experienced personnel, which takes years of work to obtain.

Car 130 is used by spec-ops personnel as a command vehicle and for ferrying equipment and members to training classes. It contains a mobile data computer (MDC) which is tied into the emergency communications center. During summer months this car carries crates of bottled water, portable tents and misting fans which are used at fire incidents during extreme weather conditions.
